Happy New Year - Michael Wright's look at the local property market in January 2014

News at Oakhill | 23/07/2014

As we enter 2014, many people’s thoughts turn to the property market and at Oakhill Estate Agents we understand this desire to know what is happening and our prognosis is very positive for the year ahead.

As the only estate agency in Old Isleworth, the team at Oakhill Estate Agents really understand the nuances and factors that make up the local market and what makes it such an attractive place to live, whether as an owner or a tenant. This is crucial in ensuring that properties are marketed effectively and prices maximised.

Obtaining professional advice at the earliest opportunity is important in any major decision making and we shall be pleased to discuss your plans and requirements, in complete confidence, with you. This can include a free and without obligation valuation of your property, whether for sale or letting purposes.

Having launched the Oakhill business in April 2013, I have been delighted with the fantastic response the team and I have received to the services we provide. With the general economy improving and activity in the market strong, there is no doubt that our first year will exceed all of our expectations.

Old Isleworth and the immediate surrounding areas have a strong sense of community and with my family and I having lived here all my life, I believe I know the community well.

Oakhill Estate Agents are committed to supporting local good causes and projects and, in our first year of business, we have supported St Mary’s Primary School, the Mo Farah Foundation, All Saints Church, Osterley Boy Scouts and the Isleworth Christmas market.

We have plans to extend that community involvement and support further in 2014 and beyond.

And so finally, what to expect in the property market in 2014?

My view is that the local market will be strong with good levels of demand from buyers, fuelled by the Government’s Help 2 Buy scheme and the continuing availability of attractively priced mortgage finance. I expect prices to rise throughout the year at levels significantly ahead of inflation.

I also expect the lettings market to remain strong and, although rental values may be at or near their peak, demand is still likely to be ahead of supply.

As always, the team and myself will be only too pleased to discuss your moving plans with you.

Happy New Year!
